New Year, New Home Design Trends for 2024
Entering the new year, the most popular home design trends mix textures and vibrant colors. The days of neutral paint tones seem to be in the past, whereas shades like peach and baby blue are making a big comeback. For instance, Pantone’s color of the year for 2024 is called, “Peach Fuzz.” Peach hues pair nicely with wood textures and add warmth to a space. Contrary to adding warmth, the cooler tones of soft blue cabinets and backsplash are making a fresh appearance in kitchens. Though fads come and go, it’s always interesting to see how different home decor styles evolve over time. Some design movements last for years, while others fall out of favor rather quickly.
Another throwback gaining momentum at the present time is creatively using wallpaper for accent walls and even ceilings. Bolder patterns and artistic mural wallpapers are themes seen frequently in recent interior design. Additionally, vintage textiles from bygone eras are becoming common, providing an interesting contrast to more modern elements. This seems to go hand in hand with the current popularity of the herringbone pattern, which has been entering the home design scene periodically since the early 1800s in flooring and fabrics.
